Event description

Description

The theme of the conference is ‘Technology driven Biology’ aiming to bring users and developers of optical imaging together. It will highlight the transformation in understanding being brought out by novel light microscopy and imaging technologies. The symposium will provide opportunities for researchers from universities across the United Kingdom to present their latest achievements in utilising latest technologies for biological research and also their potential.

The day, made up of numerous talks from invited speakers along with talks from early career researchers will show how various imaging technologies have enabled biological breakthroughs in recent years.

Presentation topics will span the fields of developmental biology, regenerative medicine, neurosciences, cancer biology and immunology as well as disease models such as spheroids and organoids. The techniques covered will include 4D imaging, superresolution imaging, intravital imaging, lightsheet microscopy, multiphoton microscopy, adaptive optics, tip enhanced Raman spectroscopy and machine learning.

Keynote/Invited speakers:

  • Prof Mark Bradley, University of Edinburgh

  • Dr Lin Wang, Central Laser Facility, Science and Technology Facilities Council

  • Dr Audrey Gerard, Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, University of Oxford

  • Dr Amanda Wright, Faculty of Engineering, University of Nottingham

  • Dr Raphael Levy, Institute of Integrative Biology, University of Liverpool
