Zine Workshop: Exploring Sense of Place in Haverfordwest
Overview
Zine Workshop / Creu Zine dy hun
Join Swansea University PhD researcher Tatiana Bodnar for a FREE hands-on zine-making workshop at Haverhub on Friday, December 5th. Zines (short for maga-zine) are small, self-published booklets that blend collage, drawing, writing, and conversation.
This creative session is part of Tatiana’s PhD research exploring grassroots and community-led urban regeneration across South Wales — and Haverhub stands as a key case study in understanding how local people are shaping the future of Haverfordwest.
Through zine-making, we’ll reflect on our sense of place — how Haverhub and the wider town centre make us feel, connect, and belong. What stories, memories, or hopes come to mind when you think about Haverfordwest? How has the town centre changed, and what could it become?
During the session, participants will be invited to reflect on how Haverhub has contributed to reshaping perceptions of Haverfordwest — from a place of memory and heritage to one of creativity, community, and renewal. Through discussion and the process of making zines, we will explore questions such as:
- How has Haverhub influenced how you feel about Haverfordwest?
- What new meanings or relationships have emerged through this space?
- In what ways has it changed your experience of the town centre?
Whether you’re a seasoned zinester or completely new to the process, this workshop invites you to explore Haverfordwest through collage, words, and imagery.
The zine-making process will serve as both a creative and reflective method for expressing these ideas — blending text, image, and personal narrative to articulate how Haverhub contributes to the evolving identity of Haverfordwest.
All materials will be provided. No prior experience in zine-making is necessary — just bring your curiosity, your memories, and your perspective on what this place means to you. Participants will have the option to choose whether or not their zines are included in Tatiana Bodnar’s PhD research project.
