Queer Amusements presents...

The Bearded Sewist in collaboration with Queer Craft Club.

Teddy will help guide you through the processes and techniques of this creative craft. Taking inspiration from queer comics, lyrics, publications and shared stories, you will be drawing, sketching and creating fun, interesting collections of imagery to be folded into your own zine to take home.

A zine is most commonly known as a small circulation publication of original or appropriated texts and images. Because of its un-restrictive nature, zines have historically been adopted by marginalised and undocumented communities. Arts and activism groups have often found safe space in zine-making and the process has often been the driving force at the beginning of whole subcultures such as Queercore and Riot Grrrl.

Teddy Ford (he/they) a.k.a The Bearded Sewist is a plush artist from Blackpool. Having originally trained as a graphic designer, Teddy has been able to skillfully transfer their understanding of space, colour and placement into soft sculpture. Their love for fun, playful, colourful characters from pop culture icons such as Pokémon and My Little Pony inspires their work with textiles and embroidery to create replica and original design pieces.

Most recently, Teddy has been running knitting and teddy-making workshops in Blackpool and has been working with Aunty Social to lead Queer Craft Club, bringing accessible crafting to the queer community in safe and calming spaces.
