ZOOM IN ON PUSHKIN AND SOUTAR is the inaugural of the Friends of Pskov monthly gatherings over Zoom curated by Iliyana Nedkova and aimed at constructing a bridge built on the foundations of contemporary art, over the rivers flowing through the twin cities of Perth, Pskov and Tartu.

This new initiative of Friends of Pskov Association, Perth marks the 30th anniversary of the signing of the twinning agreement between Perth and Pskov. The Zoom In initiative is supported by Perth and Kinross Council and the UK Twin Towns and Sister Cities Foundation.

ZOOM IN ON PUSHKIN AND SOUTAR features:

Dr Billy Kay, writer, broadcaster, producer and language activist in conversation with Jim Mackintosh, Makar of the Federation of Writers Scotland and Twin City Ambassador at Friends of Pskov. They will discuss the cultural links between Scotland and Russia focussing on Billy’s research which culminated in his book The Scottish World. A Journey into the Scottish Diaspora

Debra Salem, composer, singer and songwriter will perform songs set on Soutar’s poems from her new album In a Sma Room

Iona Fyfe, winner of Scots Singer of the Year will perform Scots songs from her latest recording.

Iain Mackintosh, Chair of the Friends of William Soutar will read Soutar’s poetry

Natalya MacDonald, theatremaker will perform Pushkin’s poetry in Russian with an owersettin intae Scots written and read by Jim Mackintosh

Iain Jordan and Chloe Mackay, Perthshire Schools Bairnrhyme Champions for 2018 and 2019 will perform a selection of Soutar's poems
