About this Event
Spanning the 11th until 13th Dynasty, the Middle Kingdom is greatly overlooked but it is a time of innovation and transformation.
It is during the Middle Kingdom much of the classic literature of ancient Egypt was produced, for example the Tale of Sinuhe, the Shipwrecked Sailor and the Eloquent Pleasant. This lecture will consider the stories but also what they can reveal about the nature of society.
