About this event

Join us for a live zoom pastel workshop to capture the fluidity and movement of a breaking wave, on a sunlit summers day, using soft pastels. We will use a series of photographs to see how the wave curls over as it breaks, and how that creates changes in its form, and the reflected light and colour on the water.

With lots of tips for mixing colours, creating translucency, and mark-making for foam, spray, deep and shallow water. And what it feels like to sit there on the beach, dazzled by the sunshine, tasting the salt in the air, and feeling the wind in your hair!

There will be a recording available the day after the session if you register for the event.

You will receive a detailed list of materials, photographs for reference, and a drawing to help you if you need it.

We will use soft pastels. You do not need to have the exact colours that Rebecca will use. We will work on a light or mid-tone pastel paper or surface for the main piece, and some practise paper for a tonal and colour sketch, and experiments with colour-mixing and mark-making.

How the session works

I will be demonstrating in my studio, and my ever-patient husband André will be hosting the zoom session. You can ask questions during the demonstration, using the ‘chat’, and I can answer questions at the end, face to face.

A recording of the session will be available after the workshop if you have registered for the event.

When you register for the workshop, you will receive a confirmation email.

This will contain the links that you need for the zoom and also to access the PDF containing all the information you need, including reference photos and a materials list.

**PLEASE LOOK IN YOUR SPAM FOLDER if you do NOT receive your EMAIL very soon after booking. If you do NOT RECEIVE it, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH!**

Please read ALL of the information.

I look forward to seeing you on Monday 8th September!
