Event description

Join us at Eastwood Park in Falfield for Zumba® and a Festive Feast in order to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society

A note from your hosts:

You may or may not be aware but in the last six months our family has been personally touched by Alzheimer's as my Father-in-Law was diagnosed with both Alzheimer's Disease and also Vascular Dementia. This has had a massive impact on the quality of his life and for those around him. Helen's Nan recently passed away and had also been suffering from this disease for a few years. At some point in our lives it will touch us in one way or another. This is why this year we have decided to support this Charity and raise funds for them to support their cause.

Also, we are aware that this time of year in the run up to Christmas is a busy one for everyone, so we decided to combine our fund raising efforts with this year's Christmas Get-together, so do come along and join us as we will be celebrating the year as well.

A little bit of information about the Alzheimer's Society:

Every penny you donate to Alzheimer’s Society is making sure we can be there for people affected by dementia.

Memory aids and strategies

In 2015/16, for every £1 we received, we spent 89p on directly improving the lives of people with dementia. The other 11p goes towards generating future income.

Thanks to you, last year, our income increased from £90.7 million to £97.9 million. We spent 12% more on our work meeting the needs of people affected by dementia, inspiring change and advancing research. Through our local services, your support directly helped over 100,000 people.

With your continued support, we will make even greater progress towards our vision of a world without dementia.

We are the only UK charity investing in research into dementia care, cause, cure and prevention. We’ve committed to spending £150 million on cutting-edge research over the next decade. Every project we fund directly addresses the needs and concerns of people affected by dementia.

We fight for the rights of everyone affected by dementia. Our campaigns keep dementia firmly at the top of the political agenda. And we raise awareness, pushing for a more dementia-friendly society so people with the condition can live without fear and prejudice. Since June 2017, more than 2 million people have signed up to become Dementia Friends. They have learnt about the condition and the small things that they can do to support people with dementia in their communities.

Advice and information

Alzheimer’s Society’s National Dementia Helpline offers information, advice and emotional support to people affected by dementia. Our advisers provide support by phone, email, social media, post, and though our online forum, Talking Point. We also have over 200 free publications, available online and in print, with clear and straightforward, NHS England-accredited information.

Local support services

Our 3,000 services across England, Wales and Northern Ireland offer information, care and support to people with dementia, their families, friends and carers. These include Dementia Cafés, Singing for the Brain® sessions, and Dementia Advisers, Dementia Support Workers and Side by Side volunteers who support people to keep doing the things they enjoy.
