Puerto Rican Arts Alliance
About the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance (PRAA)
The Puerto Rican Arts Alliance (PRAA) is a nationally recognized, Emmy Award-winning organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating Puerto Rican culture through arts, music, and educational programming. For over 25 years, PRAA has been a driving force in Chicago’s cultural landscape, fostering artistic excellence, community engagement, and youth development.
PRAA’s Arts Program provides year-round visual arts education, exhibitions, and mentorship opportunities, empowering emerging Latino artists and making the arts accessible to all. Its Music Program—featuring the renowned Latin Music Project Ensemble—offers free music education, including instruction in traditional Puerto Rican instruments such as the cuatro, ensuring that the island’s rich musical heritage is passed on to future generations.
Through dynamic cultural programming, PRAA brings the community together with large-scale events, including the annual National Cuatro Festival, which showcases master musicians and rising talent. The organization also leads grassroots initiatives, fostering cultural pride and strengthening connections between Puerto Ricans in Chicago and beyond.
From its humble beginnings as a volunteer-driven initiative to becoming a vital institution with a state-of-the-art arts and music center, PRAA continues to uplift communities through creative expression, education, and cultural preservation.
