scrap the mask collective
Are you neurodivergent? Based in the North East of England? Because same!!
My name’s Kirst and I was diagnosed with ASD at 18 years old. Learning that my brain works differently to most people’s was enlightening, but also pretty lonely and isolating.
I’m very lucky to have a supportive group of friends, but I often find myself needing to leave meet-ups early due to sensory overload or feeling exhausted after masking in front of my neurotypical friends.
And it just had me thinking… I can’t be the only one who feels like this. And if these feelings resonate with you, then I would LOVE for us to be friends!
Unfortunately, the world isn’t built for brains like ours. But we deserve to be seen and understood just as much as the next person and that is why this community exists.
If you’re autistic, ADHD, OCD, maybe you have dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, Tourette’s syndrome, learning disabilities or anything else that makes you just a lil bit different, join the club! Maybe you are self-diagnosed, but you resonate with this? You are also incredibly welcome here.
So, welcome to Scrap The Mask Collective!! Let’s build a beautiful community together
