nook creative health was founded in 2024 by Elsie Fung-Hernández. What began as a social media platform documenting her recovery from mental health burnout during COVID-19 and career break has evolved into a mission to create "nooks"—accessible, restorative spaces for everyone.

About the Founder: Elsie Fung-Hernández

After 25 years as an Art Consultant and Project Manager in Hong Kong and Asia, Elsie relocated to the UK to pivot her expertise toward the field of Creative Health. Based in Watford, Hertfordshire, she now applies her decades of arts experience through a unique dual lens:

Her practice is uniquely informed by a dual lens: Elsie is a MASc in Creative Health candidate at UCL (2026), where she researches arts-in-health programming at CW+ (Chelsea and Westminster Hospital) and serves on the Museum of Watford Advisory Panel. As an Expert by Experience with a lived journey of bipolar and a deep understanding of mental health stigma in Asia, she also brings the perspective of a former NHS counselling service user. This journey has fueled her commitment to giving back to the community, allowing her to integrate academic and clinical insights with an empathetic, inclusive, and trauma-informed approach to workshop design.

After her own path of retraining, Elsie is dedicated to supporting others in discovering that art is a vital tool for resilience and hope.
