The Safer Healthcare Biosafety Network (SHBN) brings together clinicians, professional bodies, researchers and policymakers to improve protections for healthcare staff.

Working with our partners, the SHBN calls for a recognised national definition and list of hazardous medicinal products, updated national safe handling guidance, and the routine use of closed system transfer devices where these medicines are prepared and administered. SHBN has previously successfully lobbied the government to improve safety standards around sharps safety procedures and disposal to better protect our healthcare staff.

SHBN convenes roundtables, briefings, podcasts and conferences bringing clinical practice and parliamentary attention together. Its sister network, the European Biosafety Network, pursues the same objectives at EU level.
