Von Riga
Von Riga began his journey in shibari / kinbaku (Japanese rope bondage) under renown rope master Scott Haruteru in 2014. Since then he has sought tutelage from a wide variety of teachers, both local and international, synthesising the accumulated techniques and philosophies on rope into his own unique style.
As a founding curator of “Shibari Lounge”, a monthly rope performance night held in Melbourne (with 52+ events and now in it’s 6th year), he regularly performs live - from underground clubs to festival stages, besides sharing his deep passion for rope teaching.
With the rigour of traditional Japanese rope dojo training as a base, informed by a wider interest in conscious kink and tantric arts, Von Riga‘s practice emphasises technical skill and proficiency balanced with beautiful aesthetic simplicity, where presence, intuitive play and connection with one’s tying partner is paramount.
Devoted to excellence in rope education and remaining true to the Japanese origins of the practice, Soul Rope Studios was born in 2022, a culmination of a decade long journey in rope.
