Best Friends Animal Society NWA
Best Friends Animal Society is a leading animal welfare organization working to end the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters. Founded in 1984, Best Friends is a pioneer in the no-kill movement and has helped reduce the number of animals killed in shelters from an estimated 17 million per year to around 378,000. Best Friends runs lifesaving programs across the country, as well as the nation’s largest no-kill animal sanctuary in Kanab, Utah.
In NW Arkansas, Best Friends operates out of our new first-of-its-kind Pet Resource Center, designed to bring people and pets together. The center features two free-range cat rooms and adoptable dog meet & greet rooms where visitors can meet and interact with adoptable pets. The center also features a do-it-yourself dog wash, a veterinary clinic offering weekly free vaccine and microchip clinics, and Third Space Coffee, an independently owned coffee shop featuring vegan coffee beverages and other treats.
In addition to these amenities, the pet resource center offers a variety of programming for adults, families, and children. The Dog Day Out program allows visitors to "check-out" an adoptable dog for an outing. Additional programming ranges from yoga with dogs to kitty bingo to cat shelter building.
Best Friends NWA encourages everyone to get involved by volunteering, fostering a pet, adopting, or advocating for our homeless best friends. Together we can Save Them All!
