Lisa Cannistraci
About the instructor: Lisa Cannistraci is a licensed substance abuse professional (B.S, SUDP, AAC)who has worked in community healthcare settings for eight years in substance abuse counseling and providing outpatient treatment. Lisa specializes in Addiction & Recovery support, mindfulness based Release Prevention, cognitive behavioral therapy, and behavior intervention. Lisa recognizes that recovery is a highly individualized life long growing process with no defined endpoint and no defined solution. Lisa is two years in recovery from a life changing health crisis and considers every day a gift and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others and take one day at a time.
Lisa spends each day remembering to be present, be humble and be thankful and have faith in life. Lisa’s hobbies include: being a mother & friend to her children, kayaking, walking dogs on the beach, beauty & nutritional health, reading. Lisa has lived Whidbey Island, Southern California, Ames Iowa, Vermont, and (15+yrs) on/off in Ensenada Baja Mexico.
Lisa’s has a B.S. degree in Biology (2001) and prior career (2001-2010) was working as a research associate in Cell/Molecular biology Cancer research and Asthma research.
Lisa’s inspiration for Biological sciences and integration of social human services Addiction treatment was/is her now late Uncle Joe who died 1996 from HIV AIDS virus at the mere age of 40.
