AHRC Design Leadership Fellow

The AHRC funds research projects and postgraduate study across the spectrum of arts and humanities disciplines, including those of field-defining or transformative potential, from languages and law, archaeology and literature, music and philosophy to creative and performing arts and design. This includes support for research and knowledge in the UK’s Creative Industries.

It is committed to building a world-leading Research and Innovation infrastructure by supporting research about, with and for the Creative Economy.

Since 2011, the AHRC has been working with a number of partner organisations, including with the Design Council and Innovate UK, to develop strategy and research activities in Design,  AHRC Design research is also embedded in a number of RCUK Programmes, including Connected Communities and Lifelong Health and Wellbeing.

Design pervades all areas of human experience and is being increasingly recognised as a fundamental aspect of creativity, innovation and problem-solving. Research in and through Design is crucial to the health of the discipline, increasing knowledge and understanding of the design process and underlining the profound contributions that Design can make to society and human experience. The appointment of Professor Paul Rodgers as the Leadership Fellow in Design Research will enable further development of strategy in this important area.
