Athena Stevens

Athena Stevens is an acclaimed writer, performer and social activist, recently elected by the Women's Equality Party as their Equality in the Media Spokesperson. She works as an access consultant for TFL and Heathrow Airport. She has successfully self advocated in a number of high profile cases: developing a winning toolkit of tactics along the way. Athena is also a TEDx speaker.

She is the Artistic Director of Aegis Productions Ltd. Aegis seeks to accurately reflect the world we live in, including how issues of gender, power, disability, and socio-economic status shape our culture. Collaborations have included RSC, The Globe Theatre, Saddlers Wells and Finborough Theatre. In 2017 she began an attachment with the National Theatre. In 2011 she made her west end debut, as a writer and actress, in The Amazing Vancetti Sisters and in 2016 her second play, Schism, had its world premiere at Finborough Theatre. Athena's other work includes the feature documentary Day Of Small Things (Channel 4) and three web series (YouTube). She currently writes the blog Never Walked in High Heels and in addition is completing her first Young Adult novel with the Golden Egg Academy and Chicken House Books.

Born in Chicago, she now lives in London. Athena was born with athetoid cerebral palsy.
