Baby Bright Start

Baby Bright Start is run by registered Dietitian Carly Atkinson, with the aim of supporting parents and carers to feel knowledgable and confident in giving their little ones a healthy, happy start with food.

Carly has 14 years experience working in the NHS, which she still does part time. Alongside this she has guest lectured at Coventry and Birmingham Universities, presented at National BDA conferences, and even appeared on Radio 5 Live last year talking about sugars in children's diets. Her private work has included sessional work for the Priory Hospitals Group and the Owl Therapy Centre. Carly is fully registered with the Health Care Professions Council and a member of the British Dietetic Association. She has a BSc (Hons) in Nutrition/Dietetics and an MSc in Advanced Dietetic Practice. Almost as important, she is also a mum of 2 young children herself, so she has some insight into the bringing together of theory and reality in everyday life! Everything about the workshops is centred on the practicalities of managing mealtimes and making the serving of nutritious meals for the family as enjoyable and hassle-free as possible!

Carly prides herself on delivering evidence-based, practical information and advice on all things related to Early Years Nutrition in a non-judgemental and comfortable setting. She'll talk you through the evidence and the myths, look at different approaches to caring for your baby (and yourselves) and support you in making informed decisions that suit the individual needs of your little one and your family. After many years working with families in the NHS, and as a parent of a young family herself, she is passionate about giving parents and carers the confidence to raise happy, healthy little people.

Please note that these workshops are based on general public health advice and should not be used as a replacement for seeking advice from a health professional for a clinical diagnosis. They aim to support the information you may already have recieved from your healthcare team rather than replace it. We actively encourage questions during the sessions but and there will not be the opportunity to seek in-depth clinical advice as the worshops are delivered in an informal group setting.
