Barton's Print Room

Located at RAMP/Ocean Studios, Barton’s Print Room is a dedicated Intaglio printmaking studio founded by artist Barton Hargreaves. The studio is both a creative workspace and a teaching environment designed to share the rich tradition and contemporary potential of printmaking.

The studio houses two professional etching presses:

A Bewick and Wilson press (bed size 61cm x 130cm)

A Polymetaal JW100 (bed size 100cm x 200cm) — one of the largest presses in Devon

We are fully equipped for copper and aluminium etching, using traditional roll-up grounds in combination with spray aquatint. Other techniques supported include collagraph, drypoint, photo-etching, and photopolymer processes.

Barton’s Print Room offers:

Weekly print clubs and courses suitable for all experience levels

Open access for competent printmakers, providing the freedom to work independently and create ambitious pieces using our large-format press
