Battle Scars

BATTLE SCARS is a100% survivor-led and run charity, and provides support to people affected by self-harm and eating disorders; creating safe places with people in peer support groups (mostly online, but also with some face-to-face groups, mainly in Leeds, UK) who understand, where people can talk without being judged. There's no assessment, no referral, and no waiting list.

BATTLE SCARS has a young people's drop-in hub (currently only offered in Leeds for people aged 16-25) where there is a safe place to talk with trained Battle Scars volunteers.

BATTLE SCARS provides training for professionals, practitioners, and volunteers, with 1-day workshops, Q&A-style training, private group training for professional development, and policy writing; helping them to understand why people self-harm ie, the root causes, the triggers, the urges, and the reasons.

BATTLE SCARS has produced a unique 12-step self-harm addiction programme workbook for service-users, with a separate professionals' edition.

BATTLE SCARS Ambassadors can talk to parents, carers, friends and family members in their own dedicated peer support group, as well as offering talks at assemblies to volunteers, schools, colleges and universities, plus other organisations who may support someone affected by self-harm, along with useful resources (downloaded from the Battle Scars website) to support and educate young people and adults on self-harm issues.
