Beckenham Place Mansion

The Mansion in Beckenham Place park dates back to the 18th century. Filled with ornate ceilings, Victorian floor tiles and Georgian fireplaces the building certainly reflects its Grade II* listing. The beauty of the building, hidden away from the public for a number of years, will be enjoyed by the public over the next 22 months.

.

During this period of time it will become a vibrant and creative place, catering for the needs of the local community. A range of creative classes, events and other activities will take place at the mansion and bring the building back to life. From yoga and pilates to art studios and exhibitions to music and theatre we hope to provide a space for locals to come together to share in fun and enriching activities with family, friends and dogs!

.

The team behind this project have a knack for transforming old and under-used buildings. The Mansion will be managed by the Wilson family, the owners of the Copeland Park/Bussey Building complex for the past 25 years, which now has over 120 businesses and 700 people working on site and has become Peckham’s arts and cultural quarter. Joining them will be arts and social enterprise CEO Sydney Thornbury, who was responsible for the rescue and turn-around of the Grade II listed Blackheath Conservatoire.
