When you think back on your childhood, what are your fondest memories?
For me and many others, the answer usually involves playing outdoors, digging for worms, making mudpies and having adventures….
Hi ...I'm Lucy. I’m a Forest School Practitioner and Mum of 2. I am passionate about the benefits of fresh air and I never get tired of making mud pies!
My Brighton-based project is called Bee in the Woods and it’s all about happiness, health and learning through outdoor play and forest school.
I have worked in Environmental Education for over 15 years, but the project idea came about when I had my own children. It was then that I really appreciated how playing outdoors gives little ones the chance to understand the world at their own pace. Being outdoors can help children build healthy immune systems, it's good for their (and your!) general wellbeing, social development, confidence, resilience, self esteem, imagination…on top of all that, a good dose of fresh air in the day can help with sleep at night - woohoo!
Come along, join in and play along. Let's give the next generation the chance to look back on their childhood with magical memories of playing outdoors, making mudpies and having adventures too!
