Centre for Research and Evaluation in Muslim Education (CREME), UCL Institute of Education

The Centre for Research and Evaluation in Muslim Education (CREME) is the first research centre of its kind in a mainstream British university.

Since its inception in 2012 the Centre has produced, supported and disseminated research on wide ranging issues pertaining to Muslim education including the theory of Islamic education, the role of the arts in intercultural education and philosophy in schools, education and extremism, education and poverty, and the challenges and opportunities in Muslim faith schools.

Aims

  • Conduct, support and disseminate high quality research on education in Muslim contexts
  • Embed research in Muslim education in mainstream educational research and thought
  • Advise educational bodies, think tanks and government on issues related to Muslim education
  • Support and evaluate educational initiatives – at policy and practice levels.
