Chatitze Achmet
I was born and raised in Greece, where creativity was always part of my everyday life — from observing the colours and light to spending hours drawing as a child. My passion for art and education led me to study at Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Painting with a pedagogical formation that allowed me to combine artistic practice with teaching methodology.
In 2017, I relocated to Manchester to further develop my artistic and professional journey. I completed an MA in Fine Art at Manchester Metropolitan University, where I deepened my understanding of visual language, creative process, and the importance of communication through art.
From 2017 to 2023, I worked from my studio at AWOL Studios, a vibrant artistic community that gave me the opportunity to create, exhibit, and collaborate with other artists. Alongside my studio practice, I began teaching art to both children and adults through various workshops and programs — including the National Saturday Programme (MMU), A4 Studios, and my own home-based classes.
In 2023, life brought a new form of inspiration when we welcomed our first child. Motherhood has enriched my perspective on creativity and learning, reinforcing my belief that art is not just a skill, but a way of seeing, feeling, and connecting with the world.
Today, alongside running my art classes, I also contribute to teaching Greek language and culture at a local supplementary school. My work continues to explore how art and education can nurture curiosity, emotional expression, and a lifelong love for learning.
