Chester Costume House

Chester Costume House offers theatrical costume hire, covering all historical eras, and also a bespoke costume making service. We can provide costumes for theatrical productions, private individuals, education and heritage services, video and photo-shoots, TV & film productions, themed events, masquerade balls and Murder Mystery evenings. Chester Costume House also has a large stock of 1940s outfits, suitable for wartime weekends, vintage tea dances, Goodwood Revival, Pickering etc.. Costumes can also be made to measure or altered to the customers specifications and we also offer a full wardrobe supervision service. If you are looking for a specific outfit for an event or production then please get in touch and we'll be able to help.

Chester Costume House is owned and managed by Paula Cain. Paula has worked for many years in theatre as a freelance wardrobe supervisor and costume designer. She has also produced theatrical and period costume for many North West theatres and is regularly commissioned to design and create period costumes and corsetry for arts education workshops in various museums and National Trust heritage sites.

After a move to a larger premises in May 2019, Chester Costume House has been able to build a creative workshop space where we run corsetry, dressmaking, costume making and embroidery workshops from.
We are conveniently situated just outside Chester city centre, covering all surrounding areas of the North West and North Wales. There is ample free parking.
