Cody Dock

The Gasworks Dock Partnership was formed as a social enterprise in November 2009 and registered as a charity in April, 2011, under charity number 1141523. It’s formed to act as a vehicle for community led regeneration and nurtures public engagement in the revitalisation of our waterways.

GDP promotes the growth of social enterprises that supports these goals.

GDP has already opened its Docklands Community Boat for community and private hire within Cody Dock which is a 2.5-acre site that will eventually host a number of social enterprises and activities that include:

- Visitor centre & café
- Exhibition space
- Industrial heritage archive and museum
- International artist and respite hosting suites
- Studios and workshop space
- Live/work moorings
- Visitor moorings
- Dry dock facilities

Phase One of our redevelopment of Cody Dock is well under way and it is hoped that we will have constructed a new stretch of towpath that will enable local people to walk along and enjoy the Lower Lea River in time for Summer 2014.

GDP’s aims for Cody Dock include:

- Help people access the Lower Lea’s environment and celebrate the area’s industrial heritage
- Develop a community based arts and creative industries quarter on the banks of the River Lea
- Forge links with the wider community and enable them to access and enjoy the River Lea
- Develop the site as an incubator for creative enterprise
- Nurture sustainable income that will enable the development to support a wide range of arts, cultural and educational programs
- Provide new pathways into work for local people
- Create a regeneration vehicle for conservation, environmental and cultural benefit.
