Responding to Hate Crime BU

What is a hate crime? How do you respond to it? Where do you find support? How can you support others?

Bournemouth University considers hate crime, and how to respond to it, to be a vital issue. In an attempt to raise awareness amongst the student body, a drama-based format called Forum Theatre, will use actors to explore examples of hate crime.

By attending one of these sessions we hope attendees learn the skills required for becoming an active bystander in situations of hate crime and to ensure positive action is taken in future incidents on and off campus

Please see the below available dates. If you would like to attend but are unable to, please contact diversity@bournemouth.ac.uk and we will add you to the waiting list for future dates. This project is being supported by Student’s Union at Bournemouth University, Dorset Police, Dorset Police & Crime Commissioner, Crown Prosecution Service Wessex, Dorset Race Equality Council, Access Dorset and Intercom Trust.

This project has been funded thanks to the HEFCE Catalyst Fund, in response to a Universities UK report on “Changing the Culture”, which looks at hate crime and other relevant areas.
