After a successful first year, ‘Move On, Move Up’ has returned to once again help students in Doncaster achieve their full potential in the upcoming exams. The scheme aims to build a bright future for our young people by enhancing the great support already provided by schools. This includes offering incentivised extra revision and study sessions and specially designed study guides which will be made available to both students and parents.
Last year the scheme held an extra 31 weekend study sessions across the borough; following on from this success, the sessions will be rolled out again for 2017. Each one will be facilitated by Qualified Learning Mentors and designed to support the ongoing work already taking place in schools across Doncaster. Parents are also encouraged to attend with their children as a way of better understanding the important support they can offer at home.
Building on last year’s success, the Move On, Move Up programme is being extended to enhance the support for even more young people in Doncaster. It will now include offers for our 10 and 11 year olds busy preparing for their Key Stage 2 SATS tests in May, before they make the move to secondary school in September.
More leisure incentives will also be on offer for those who attend sessions, not only to encourage increased involvement but to provide much needed relief during a stressful time.
