EMM European Movement Merseyside

EMM European Movement Merseyside was founded in Liverpool on 1 October 2015 as the official branch of EM European Movement UK.

EMM members come from across the LCR Liverpool City Region combined authority's six local councils (Halton, Knowsley, LiverpoolSt Helens, Sefton and Wirral).

EM European Movement UK is a grassroots, independent, pro-European organisation, giving voice to those who believe Britain's future lies side by side with our European partners.

EM UK is part of EMI European Movement International which was founded in 1948.  EMI is a pro-European network in 39 countries and encompasses 36 International Associations, bringing together European civil society, business, trade unions, NGOs, political parties, local authorities and academia.

European Movement origins date back to July 1947, when the cause of a United Europe was being championed by notables such as Winston Churchill and Duncan Sandys in the form of the Anglo-French United European Movement.  -  The European Movement was formally created on 25 October 1948.  Duncan Sandys was elected President and Léon Blum, Winston Churchill, Alcide De Gasperi and Paul-Henri Spaak as Honorary Presidents.

EMM European Movement Merseyside supports the EM UK national movement and EMI partners with a clear voice and strong platform in our Merseyside / Liverpool region.  -  If you believe the UK should remain in Europe then please join us in the fight to keep us in: support our #PeoplesVote campaign.

We are not affiliated with any political party and welcome members from across the political spectrum.  Whether you are a little sceptical about further integration, or a committed European federalist, what unites us is the view that EU membership benefits Merseyside and the UK as a whole.  We should stay part of the European Union: united in diversity.

EMM European Movement Merseyside (@EMMerseyside Facebook public page) is both a campaigning and social branch.  We also hold regular monthly events along with the new WWW WorldWide Wednesday initiative.

We offer you the chance to contribute to the European debate and to participate in campaigning for the the UK to stay in the EU.  You can get involved as much or as little as you like.  If you want to meet like-minded people then we provide good opportunities for socialising and conversation with other pro-Europeans.
