Extinction Rebellion Guildford

Extinction Rebellion Guildford are members of the Guildford public dedicated to tackling the climate & ecological crisis. 

We consist of doctors & nurses from Royal Surrey, teachers from across the borough schools, students from Uni of Surrey, local plumbers, builders, therapists, publicans, clergy, and a wide range of other local residents. 

The United Nations and the scientific community have demonstrated that we are 10 years away from the tipping points which will lead to irreversible climate breakdown. This will bring floods, drought, and food insecurity to the UK. We refuse to sit by silently whislt our futures are stolen for the sake of corporate profit.

We use direct action to force the government to take action on the climate crisis. Of the 196 countries who committed to limiting the planet to 2 warming, only 16 are meeting these targets - the UK is not one of them. 

Whilst countries like India are now investing more in renewables than fossil fuels, the UK continues to give £10.6 billion pounds of tax-payers money to the fossil fuel industry. At the same time, our government has scrapped net zero planning requirements, removed renewable subsidies, and supports airport expansion despite the impending catastrophe of the climate emergency.
