Findaway: A WWIN Project
PLEASE NOTE: If there are no current events listed, please register your interest by completing this short form, and a member of the Findaway team will get back to you.
For 40 years WWIN have supported communities in Sunderland through our specialist domestic abuse services. Now – through Findaway - we hope to reach those impacted earlier, before the abuse escalates, by supporting those around them.
Findaway is a project that recognises that you – the families, friends, and community members – are usually the first to know, and best placed to support, if someone you know affected by domestic abuse. We want to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to support them effectively.
Findaway is open to anyone aged 16 and over and living in Tyne & Wear or Northumberland. Our service includes: An anonymous phoneline, peer-support groups, educational workshops and resources. Our trained advocates can provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to effectively support the person you’re worried about. We believe we all know someone affected by domestic abuse, and we can all help.
If you’re worried, talk to us.

Be the Difference Workshops
Our workshops are free domestic abuse awareness sessions for our communities focussing on what people can do if they know someone who they think might be in an abusive relationship. Family, friends, colleagues, and neighbours are often the first to know that abuse is happening, but it can be difficult to know what to say.
During the workshop we will work together to create a safe and supportive space to explore what domestic abuse is, what it isn’t, some of the signs we might recognise and most importantly – how we can help effectively.
We all know somebody who has been affected by domestic abuse, and we can all help - join us to find out how!
