FoodCycle is a national charity that tackles food poverty and social isolation whilst reducing food waste and strengthening local communities. Each Wednesday, volunteers at FoodCycle's Manchester hub collect up to 60kg of surplus food from local shops and supermarkets that otherwise would have been thrown away and use it to cook nutritious, three-course, sit-down meals for anybody in the community to enjoy.

Guests join us at the Roby centre in Longsight, one of the poorest areas of Manchester. Many regularly go without meals, live alone or suffer from long-term physical and mental health conditions. FoodCycle offers them an opportunity to enjoy a full, healthy meal in the company of people from a variety of backgrounds. Many of our guest come week-in-week-out and almost 70% agree that they feel more connected to their community as a result of coming.

Each hub in the FoodCycle family is asked to raise £2,500 a year to help the charity continue and expand it's work. FoodCycle Manchester holds fundriasing events throughout the year inlcluding supper clubs, ceili dances and street collections.
