G-Cloud Programme

G-Cloud is a UK Government Programme to encourage the adoption of Cloud Services across the whole of the Public Sector.   Our aims are to simplify how the Public Sector buys and delivers services by creating a marketplace of pay-as-you-go commodity services that can be easily scaled up or down, based on the changing needs of a business and its users.  All types of Cloud Services are covered by the Programme, including Public, Private and Hybrid, with offerings under four lots:  Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS); Software as a Service (SaaS);  Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Specialist Consultancy Services (SCS) – so whatever your needs, we’re likely to have something to offer. 

The Programme is not just about IT, it’s about changing perceptions and encouraging a Cloud first approach;  it’s about providing the right tools to help the business unleash innovation from the front-line and from citizens; it’s about helping a business become more flexible, agile and responsive to changing needs.  The technology and the means to use it are here, so we must embrace change, start experimenting, share our experiences and not be afraid to be one of the first to go Cloud.


Since the CloudStore launched in February 2012, there have been sales of more than £11 million from across Central Government Departments, NHS organisations, Fire and Ambulance services, Local Authorities and the Welsh Assembly Government, amongst others. With 459 provides and over 3,200 services, we have created an impressive, diverse and dynamic marketplace, with an increasing number of services accredited to IL2 and IL3 levels.
