About my supper club
All my life I wanted to be a doctor. This dream came from wanting to be someone that takes care and looks after people. Because of my journey and having to stop my education at the age of 9 I was not able to achieve this dream. However, I have learned that I could achieve my dream in a different way.
Thank God that I met Ella’s through the Poppy Project. Ella’s introduced me to Luminary Bakery where I learned how to bake. Since I graduated in 2016 (?), I have prayed for opportunities to help other people, and I have been working and planning towards creating this shop. I know opening up a shop is not easy, but I am ready. For the last 7 years I have been working incredibly hard to develop myself and build the skills I need to make this project happen. In this shop I would love to be able to give baking and barista training to people like me. I would like to employ survivors once the business picks up to help them gain work experience. My dream is that this is not just a shop, but a project to help survivors thrive in life.
Over the years, I have gained knowledge and work experience as a baker, barista, florist, business owner and teacher. My skills have helped me to build an understanding and a clear plan on how to make this business successful. My dream is not only to create a job that brings me financial stability, but more importantly, I want to achieve something. I want to be happy and to make people who I cross paths with in life to be happy as well. I want to build and create something that I am proud of, and I want it to be a project that care’s, heals, and looks after people.
