Havering 4 Peace

Our Story;

We are 3 friends that met each recently through our Watsapp groups and we instantly connected because of how we felt about the genocide in Palestine. We live in Collier Row, Romford and one early morning this October we, alongside the world, saw the horrific and heartbreaking images of Palestinians like 19 year old Shaban al-Dalou, being burnt alive in hospital tents attached to IV drips. That evening we met up as throughout the day we had been messaging about it and how hurt and frustrated we were watching it in our hands with our eyes wide open but not doing anything about it. From that night we decided that we WILL do something about it, a protest, a vigil, letters to our MP, David Lammy and the Prime Minister, anything to wake our community up to start making some noise about it.

The Event

We landed on organising an in person event for the community, the first of its kind in the London Borough of Havering (as far as we are aware) to raise awareness through strong and powerful speakers like yourself, allowing the audience to have Q&A’s but also for you to engage with the audience too, in asking questions about what they are afraid off and dispelling some of those thoughts/fears they have – we are hoping it will be interactive as much as possible. We will also have a small selection of stalls with Palestinian led products as part of a fundraising campaign with Action for Humanity to raise funds for safety shelters in Gaza.
