Aga Moodley, a stylist who set up her company ‘I A.M. the Brand’ in 2009, believes that a person’s look affects and reflects their personal, professional and social life. The philosophy behind ‘I A.M. the Brand’ is that each of us is unique, with their body shape, skin tone, personal taste and personality culminating to create a brand that is enhanced by the clothing labels they wear but not defined by them.
Aga had first hand experience of the effects of a conformist society on individuality and identity of individuals in their dress and style in 80s. In spite of the situation Aga has always stood out thanks to her mother’s and grandmother’s ingenious way of using limited materials to stitch, sow and fashion together one-off pieces of clothing for her. Aga has ever since used these formative years to inspire her vision of how individuals should express and represent themselves through their style.
Aga has styled a range of women and men, and by understanding the physiological and emotional reasons that many of her clients seek her help with, Aga gives them the tools and skills necessary to gain an injection of confidence, regain motivation and see the true value in themselves as part of style make-over sessions.
By combing formal styling training (Fashion Marketing Elective – ‘London College of Fashion’ & Stylist Course – ‘Style Me Academy’) as well as academic qualifications which include a Master’s Degree in Communication Aga has understood that to improve a client’s overall image they need to be looked at from the perspective of their psychological and physical presence. This has resulted in Aga’s unique approach to styling which focused on the background personality characteristics of an individual and using this as a frame of reference when applying styling techniques with clothing. The end result is an approach to styling which differs from many fashion consultants who merely pick out clothes which act as a quick fix without empowering clients.
Apart from styling individuals Aga has acted as a Consultant stylist for runway (Models of Diversity launch show which featured in OK magazine) and print adverts campaigns including British Airways – Boston . This broader expertise has allowed her to widen her skill set and harness techniques from these roles into her stylist practice. Aga is constantly up to date with latest in haute couture from all the major fashion houses each season as well as the latest updates from the high street retailers. Aga loves using her understanding of these trends to easily match which clothing range would fit each person - their status, body shapes and preferences and of course their budget.
