Institute of Student Employers

Since the organisation was established nearly 50 years ago (1968), its remit has widened in response to the evolution of the graduate recruitment market and employer needs.

On 20 September 2017 the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) changed its name to the Institute of Student Employers (ISE).

We have changed our name as many employers now take a more holistic approach to meeting their early talent needs, incorporating school leaver, apprentice and graduate programmes into a broader resourcing strategy.

Employers are increasingly engaging schools and colleges (as well as universities) as part of their entry-level recruitment and development strategies. This supports the government agenda to increase apprentice numbers, provide more vocational pathways into employment and improve the skills development of young people to increase the UK’s productivity and deliver economic success.

With a diverse network of members, we bring together employers, the education sector, and supplier partners, and achieve our mission by:

  • Promoting excellence and innovation in the resourcing, assessment and development of emerging talent.
  • Delivering comprehensive research on a range of issues affecting graduate, intern and apprenticeship recruitment and development, including current and future trends and benchmarking data.
  • Influencing key policy areas affecting student employment and the education sector
