The Role of Regional Prevent Education Coordinators (RPEC)

The Department for Education (DfE) regional Prevent coordinators support and improve Prevent delivery in each region of England. Our role is to help schools, further education (FE) and higher education (HE) with the implementation of their Prevent Duty responsibilities.

My Background and Specialisms

I am the DfE's Prevent Coordinator for London and have supported the region since 2020. My background involves working in education in roles ranging from student facing support to Prevent Lead and Designated Safeguarding Lead. Although my postgraduate degrees are in History, my specialism is in online radicalisation and gaming. I've run sessions focussing on the online space since 2020 reaching over ten thousand education staff and partner agencies in that time. I spend an inordinate amount of time on the internet across various sites, and am also immersed in the gaming world which ensures my sessions are up to date, interesting, and are delivered by someone once described as "very online" by a training attendee.
