John's Campaign, hosted by Age UK

John's Campaign was founded by Nicci Gerrard and Julia Jones in 2014. It started when Nicci’s father John was admitted to hospital for routine treatment of leg ulcers. Before admission, John was living well with dementia. But when his family were unable to visit him, John became a shadow of his former self and never recovered. John's Campaign calls for a policy welcoming family carers onto hospital wards outside of the normal visiting times, according to the needs of the person with a dementia and their carers. They believe an open visiting culture will deliver benefits to dementia patients, their families and hospital staff.
