Kampong Girl - A Bruneian Food Odyssey

 

Kampong is the Malay name for a village and is where this journey begins. Growing up in Kampong Lumut in Brunei (Borneo) my passion for cooking started at an early age.

 

I have been cooking mouth-watering Malay food with a Bruneian twist for friends and families and their encouragement has spurned me on to share my passion for food with a wider audience.

 

Our food is a delightful explosion of flavours and textures - sweet, sour, salty, bitter and spicy! We use seasonal food which we source locally here in London, as well as key ingredients like coconut, lemon grass, galangal, turmeric and chilli.

 

For those of you who are not familiar with Bruneian food, it is quite similar to that of Malaysia and Singapore but of course, at Kampong Girl, I cook in the traditional style of home cooking – full of love and goodness.
