Theatre maker, workshop leader, director, actress, singer songwriter.

"The honesty and trust Lewis provides when working is beautiful. Anyone who embraces theatre and dreams of the stage should meet this woman as soon as possible" YMT cast member

Workshop leader

I run theatre and self expressive workshops, coach actors and non-actors alike in group and one-on-one sessions: addressing all aspects of performance, self confidence, the voice & voicing the authentic voice. I have led workshops in acting, physical theatre, devising and Shakespeare for 1927 Theatre, Aquila Theatre (NYC), Youth Music Theatre (UK), The British Council and the British Ballet Organisation. As well as offering these specific workshops I create bespoke workshops to meet the specific needs of each group, individual or company.

Director

I’ve been creating new works of theatre for YMT UK since 2012. My first adventure was the Seventh Musean epic show devised with 36 awesome young women at the Barbican, Plymouth.  Taking inspiration from Jean Shinoda Bowen's Goddess in Everywoman. (Composer: Craig Adams, Choreography: Tom Jackson Greaves). Then came Harvest Fire with music by Mairi Campbell and David Francis. Another devised show inspired this time by The Burning Man Festival and Lughnasa. At The Lemontree, Aberdeen. (Choreography: Tom Jackson Greaves). And most recently I adapted and directed The Great Gatsby at South Hill Arts, Bracknell. The cast were exemplary,  we were blessed with a fabulous creative team and succeeded in bringing the quintessential American classic to teh stage. (Composer: Adam Gerber, Choreography: Steve Kirkham, Video design: Joe Stathers & Design:Hannah Boothman). What next with YMT?.. . .  watch this space....

Actress

I trained at ALRA graduating in 2002 with a "Critics choice" in the Stage. I've have had some pretty cool experiences over the years. Highlights include making my first solo show - "the history of the pomegranate" and being awarded an Arts Council Grant to make it. Touring the world with 1927 was a great experience: 21 countries in 11 months! Part of the role was being an ambassador for the arts with the British Council which was awesome,  a bit scary and a huge learning opportunity to engage in talks about and palpably feel the benefit of sharing theatre between cultures. Playing Queen Isabel opposite Kevin Spacey in Richard II was a blast of wonderment. And working with Kath Burlinson on the devised show WOLF, was a rocket blast of authenticity and learning and where I met my dear husband. I still work as an actor and love collaborating with people on modern visual work and classical beautiful texts, so give me a call if you want to work with me. I sing, I dance, I act.

Musician

Voyaging on the tender terrain of vocal purity: her music haunts and heals. Described by Irish Radio International as a maker of  “Delicious music: A massage of the heart, a whisper to the soul”, Lewis works with an uncomplicated loveliness of sound. Her first recording,  the independently released EP “Catch Me”  heard on Johnny Coppin’s BBC Radio 2 Folk show contains 5 songs from her Vocal Voyages collection inspired by a year of world travel.  Invisible Filter described it as “Utterly brilliant”. The new single “WISE OWL” the first single from her debut album Folkalism will be release on 15th Sept 2017. Half Irish and half English, she sang with the Gaelic ensemble Rún for 3 years before going solo.
