Liam J. Wakefield
About Me:
My name is Liam Wakefield, I am a counselling lecturer at Northbrook College and a psychotherapist accredited through the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. I spent 11 years in the British Army but was medically discharged after the discovery of a rare genetic condition that altered the direction of my life. The personal experiences with PTSD, self-destruction, and the challenges of adapting to life with a chronic illness sparked a deep passion to understand why we feel the way we do when facing such adversity. I made it my passion to try and understand our feelings, experiences, and the very structure of our minds. I have spent the past few years exploring the depths of mental health and wellbeing in pursuit of making changes to how we approach it when working with others. Having worked with the NHS, charity organisations such as Mindful Life Group CIC, and running my own private practice, I have gained an understanding of where my experiences can be best used in helping others. I now look to extend my knowledge into a series of free workshops and content to help others explore their own minds and begin the imperative inner work that is required to best protect yourself when going through adversity.
The information I share at these events will also form part of the syllabus for the two courses I teach at Northbrook College as part of the Chichest College Group.
