The London Materials Society (LMS) is a local society of The Institure of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3). The society meets regularly to discuss and host lectures on every aspect of Materials from Ice Cream manufacture and self-healing structured cities to developments in nanotechnology and biological tissue engineering. Other key events for the Society are the Young Persons' Lecture Competition, Issue of awards for upcoming Materials Scientists and public engagement with local schools. All events, usually held at the Institute's London headquarters start at 6.30 pm (unless otherwise stated) with tea and biscuits provided from 5.45 pm and a light buffet reception after the meeting. Events are free of charge and the society encourage the public to attend.
