Makomborero

Makomborero is a UK registered charity that makes grants to Makomborero Zimbabwe, working in and around Harare. Makomborero Zimbabwe offers scholarships to economically disadvantaged, but supremely talented, students who would be otherwise unable to finish their A-level education. They are awarded places at top private schools in Harare to study their chosen A-levels, living in a safe and secure family environment at a boarding house, with state of the art resources at their disposal.

We offer upto 10 places each year with a total of 20 students in our boarding house (10 Upper Sixth and 10 Lower Sixth). As well as these internal scholarships, we offer up to 15 external A-level scholarships each year to students, paying their school fees, examination fees and helping with resources.

Makomborero has been working with students for 10 years and we are thrilled that the vast majority of these students are now either studying tertiary education or are gainfully employed. Many of the students have won international scholarships to study abroad, or have a place on our university grant scheme at a local Zimbabwe university.

What makes Makomborero different is that our focus is not solely on the impact that Makomborero has on these students academically, but also on empowering them to grow and blossom into people who have a vision for their future. Whole families are changed due to the impact Makomborero has on one student!
