Matamando

 

Matamando unique vocal Gospel Sound transcends 
genres. Her effortlessly natural African sound, 
has audiences and congregations of all ages dancing 
or fixated when she belts out a ballad with her smooth 
yet powerful voice. 
Over the last 20 years Matamando has worked with different artists both in the UK and Malawi singing background for Malawi’s most prominent gospel singers and shared the stage with gospel greats such as Israel Houghton. She is an anointed singer with a passion and hunger for God. She currently leads praise and worship at the LifeCentre Church for the last 14 years. Her journey in the Lord has been nothing but a testament of God’s goodness, favour and grace.
Born in Malawi , 1982, Matamando lived in a house filled with music, and 
from the age of 2 she was exposed to a vast range of Gospel music. Everything 
from Gospel legends Edwin Hawkins Singers , The Clark Sisters, to jazz icon Nat King Cole. These different styles of music, as well as a strong presence in the church, inspired Matamando as a Gospel singer. Coming from a musical family, Matamando is not new on the Malawian music scene, with a Jazz legend Isaac Mkukupa for a father. Matamando started writing her own songs at the tender age of 15, but it wasn’t until 2011 following a prophecy that she started receiving songs in her dreams or as she went about carrying out her daily activities .In 2016, she began working on a long awaited first solo EP 
recording entitled ‘It’s Time’ (Produced by the talented Andrew 
Mutambira) which will be launched in November this year, and in summer, she released her debut single‘ ‘I belong to you’ which is available now.
