Mel Wakeman

Wakeman Nutrition provides a professional advice and consultancy service, established in 2017 by Mel Wakeman, registered nutritionist.

Mel has a BSc (Hons) and a Masters Degree in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. She began her career working as a lecturer in Nutrition in London between 1997 before moving to Birmingham in 2001, working as a Senior lecturer for the last 16 years.

As an independent and well respected expert, Mel works on a one-to-one basis with her private clients and also delivers health related workshops and well-being programmes in the corporate sector (workplace health).

Mel creates bespoke programmes tailored precisely to meet individual or organisational needs. She offers health, sleep and energy assessments, dietary analysis and meal plans in addition to goal setting, action plans and habit reformation.

Mel creates personalised tools and develops useful resources for all her clients. Mel can help with weight management (using a non diet apporoach) - digestive problems - eating for type 2 diabetes – cholesterol lowering plans - supporting joint health - combatting fatigue - eating on a budget - family mealtimes - healthy pregnancy - weaning support - fussy toddlers - vegetarianism - veganism - sports nutrition - healthier aging - stress management - self care

Mel is an entertaining and authoritative speaker, speaking at conferences, seminars and on National and Global Radio. Her opinions and work have appeared in many publications too, including national newspapers and magazines.

Wakeman Nutrition is embracing digital healthcare through online coaching. Mel’s approach is entirely client centred, teaching her clients to reconnect and create positive relationships with food. Non-diet and kindful eating methods are key to this.
