Melanie Blaikie

With a background in fine jewellery, I have designed for most of the big names, from Mappin & Webb and Garrard to Asprey and Tiffany. I started my career in diamonds working for De Beers but it was not until I moved to Suffolk in 2003 that I discovered Silver Clay – an incredibly ingenious new form of recycled silver made into a soft ‘clay’. I wanted to share my passion, so decided to teach almost straight away and now have the pleasure of sharing my skills at some of the most prestigious creative venues across the UK.

My book ‘Silver Clay Workshop – a complete introduction to silver clay jewellery’ was first published in 2011 and the revised and updated version published in 2018.

I have fallen in love with inspiring others to be creative and published ‘Teach What You Do – the handbook for teaching creative skills’ in 2018.

I am also a guest presenter on Jewellery Maker TV and was delighted to speak on the subject of teaching creative skills for Kirstie Allsopp at ‘Kirstie’s Handmade Fair’ in 2018.
