Michelle Richardson

In addition to being a Mental Health First Aid Instructor, Michelle is a Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Midwife working for one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK. Working within the safeguarding team, Michelle regularly delivers staff training for level two and three safeguarding, this includes Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberties (DOLS). Working closely with women and their families on a day to day basis, Michelle sees the both positive and negative impact that mental health has on individuals and families. She works closely with other agencies including primary and secondary mental health services, and coordinates the consultant led psychiatric clinics.

Michelle’s interest for mental health started when she herself was a teenager and was witness to debilitating mental illness within her own family. She has continued to support family and friends through the good times and the bad.

"I genuinely care and get passionate about mental health. I think together we can get people talking about mental health, work to reduce stigma and help improve services". (Michelle Richardson)
