MinoFest
The women of the Dahomey Amazon referred to themselves as the Mino, meaning our mothers in the Fon language. That is why we have chosen to represent our rebrand with this image of a Dahomey Warrior.
The Dahomey Warriors were raised to protect the Kingdom of Dahomey, in today’s Benin. Though they never had children themselves, they were called the Mothers of the community because they were advocates and protectors.
Mino Fest is the community gathering to praise and learn from all of the innovators, advocates, researchers, professionals and parents that care and put in the work everyday for a better future. We convene with the idea that is could be possible to make a change and shift the narratives around what perinatal and reproductive care should be like.
