Mohamed Mohamud

Mohamed Mohamud is a playwright, photojournalist, and founder of Somali Sideways, an international platform for Somali and African stories across the diaspora and the Horn of Africa. He initially stepped onto the theatre stage in July 2025 with Between Two Worlds at Oxford House with Kayd Somali. He continues with his commitment to applying subjects of migration, belonging, and cultural identity to theatre. Mohamed has authored for international media like Minority Africa, Africa Confidential, Geeska Platform, and Global Voices, and his narrative projects have followed Somali communities in more than 30 countries. He holds an MSc in Politics of Conflict, Rights, and Justice from SOAS University of London and brings research, writing, and creative work to challenge stereotypes and change narratives through art, media, and performance.
