Mothers Who Make - Coventry Hub
Mothers Who Make is a growing nationwide movement founded by theatre director Matilda Leyser in London in 2014. It provides a peer support network for artists of any kind - professional and/or passionate. Every kind of maker is welcome, and every kind of mother. Children are also welcome to attend, for the dual roles of mothering and making are held in equal respect and regard and participants are encouraged to feel visible in both roles.Mothers Who Make - Coventry Hub opened at The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, Coventry in May 2019 and is facilitated by photographer Adele Mary Reed, with sessions currently held over Zoom. The hub was also co-founded by Jessica Timmis - Artist. Adele and Jessica felt there was a lack of support for women pursuing the dual roles of mother and maker and that the Mothers Who Make model would introduce a valuable space to Coventry and surrounding areas.
